Mythic Entertainment is probably best known for the iconic Dark Age of Camelot. Unfortunately their past success couldn’t save them from EA shutting them down.
Mythic Studio was first acquired by EA in 2009, less than a year after the release of Mythic’s Warhammer Online. After that they worked a while on the PvP standalone version of Warhammer: Wrath of Heroes, untill EA shut down the development and moved the company to mobile development.
The companies most recent release was the remake of the classic strategy game Dungeon Keeper. Unfortunately the game was very microtransaction heavy and wasn’t received well by the public.
EA had this to say about the closure:
We are closing the EA Mythic location in Fairfax, Virginia, as we concentrate mobile development in our other studio locations. We are working with all impacted employees to provide assistance in finding new opportunities, either within EA or with other companies via an upcoming job fair.
