As a part of making Hawken bigger and better, the development team recently announced the games plans of joining Steam.
Steam is the premier platform for PC gaming. It reaches millions of gamers worldwide, so it seems like a logical next step in introducing Hawken to a brand new audience.
The development team also added:
- From this point forward, a Steam account will be required to play Hawken. The game will no longer be playable by using the existing launcher and it will only be accessible through Steam.
- Once current players have the game downloaded on Steam, they will be able to play the latest version of Hawken, i.e. the February Update. This patch will be missing some core content and players may run into some of the development QA testers still working on final polish. Right now, the team’s aiming for a formal release of the update in the next couple of weeks.
- New account creation is being disabled until the full February release.
The development team also released Steam Transition FAQ that you can view here.
