Bungie has announced that they’ll be ending their publishing partnership with Activision. Bungie will get back the publishing rights to the Destiny IP.
The companies first forged their partnership back in 2010 when Bungie was just an independent studio setting out to build a brand new experience that grew out to become Destiny. So in order to fulfill their dreams, the company was looking for an established partner to take a leap of fate with them.
In the announcement, they thanked Activision for their partnership on Destiny and went on to explain that they’ll be getting the publishing rights to Destiny and Acivision will be increasing their focus on their other owned IP projects.
Apparently the transition process is already underway in its early stages and the companies are doing their best to make the transition as seamless as possible.
