Some time ago Blizzard announced a content patch for the critically acclaimed Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls. The Patch will be featuring many updates including Greater Rifts, Seasons and The Vault.
Seasons will be one of the biggest additions in the 2.1.0 update. Seasons is a completely new gameplay mode, where players are encouraged to roll a new hero and race against others to complete new challenges, acquire new and exclusive loot, and experience once more the feeling of starting fresh. Seasons mode will allow players to create both regular and hardcore characters.
There are 3 ways to compete with other players in seasons:
- Completing Conquests, which are Season-exclusive Achievements
- Acquiring as many Achievement points as possible
- Reaching the highest tiers in Greater Rifts.
Greater Rifts are a special type of Nephalem Rift, designed to measure and showcase hero progression. The rift features a progress timer, unique rewards and custom leaderboards. Entering a Greater Rift requires Keystone of Trials. These keystones have a chance to drop from any normal Rift Guardian when playing in Torment difficulty on a level 70 hero. After entering the realm of trials using the Keystone of Trials, hero’s will be evaluated and a proper level will be chosen for their Greater Rift Run. Each trial as well as Greater Rift run will be timed. The faster the time, the better the rewards. To find out more about Greater Rifts, read the official preview here.
The last great addition in the patch will be The Vault. In patch 2.1.0, whenever a Treasure Goblin is slain, there is chance that he will open a portal to the Vault. In the Vault, players will encounter unimaginable wealth- piles of gold, gems and chests brimming with unimaginable treasures. The Vault is also the home for Baroness Greed, the de facto leader of the Treasure Goblin horde. Hero’s will have to end her reign in order to claim their spoils.
